Drip... Drip...

Description

Takua felt that he was going to die. But before he could die, he struggled to remember all that had happened since... the disaster.

He and Takanuva had been one being, at one point. The Makuta changed that. After Makuta won the Kohlii Match, he grabbed a wicked-looking spear, that somewhat resembled the staff that Takanuva carried. The only difference was this one had several small spikes near the spearhead. The next thing Takanuva knew, a blast of energy erupted out of the spearhead and hit him. He was sent flying backwards... and he felt like his body was being torn in two... reassembled... and torn apart once more.

When he opened his eyes, he discovered something shocking – he was Takua again! Not too far from him lay an unconscious form of what appeared to look just like Takanuva. "What happened?" he had asked.

"The Spear of Fusion split you into two beings," smirked the Makuta. "Apparently, it has worked well enough to actually split the Toa of you away from the Matoran part of you. Now, the question is, whether or not consciousness will return to - "

Makuta never finished his sentence. Takanuva suddenly woke up, and Takua saw madness in the Toa's eyes. The Toa of Light leaped onto Makuta, and continually stabbed the dark being's armor with his Kohlii Staff of Light. Makuta gave a choked sound, and fell to the ground, dead, with greenish smoke coming out from the cracks. In a few weeks, the smoke would have disappeared, never to reappear again.

Takanuva climbed onto Makuta's fallen form, raised his Kohlii Staff of Light into the air, and proclaimed, "I am now the ruler of this island!" As he spoke those words, Takua suddenly realized that Takanuva was not only crazy, but sadistic and evil too.

Within a few months, Takanuva had successfully defeated the other six Toa Nuva, imprisoned the Turaga, and enslaved the Matoran. It was a horrible sight. Takua worked side-by-side with his Matoran friends, carving statues and towers in the honor of the horrible Takanuva.

Takanuva had claimed Makuta's lair for himself. Using parts of Makuta's armor, he rebuilt the armor that he wore. He had slain six Skakdi who had entered the lair, and hung their heads high up on a wall, as trophies. He wore a torn, black cape, and his Kohlii Staff of Light was almost always covered with a fresh paint of blood.

Takua wasn't sure what quite happened next. Perhaps there was a rogue Makuta that served Mata Nui's will. Perhaps the Great Beings were being merciful on the island's blight. Whatever the reason, a canister washed up on the island, unnoticed by Takanuva. Takua was there, and saw it open. Out stepped a... Rahkshi! But this Rahkshi was different – Takua noticed right away. Its armor was of a different design, and was gold, silver, and white. Its spines and its staff resembled the Chronicler's Staff that Takua once carried. And, its eyes were of a blue color, with a hint of green. It was evident the Rahkshi was the only hope for salvation.

The Rahkshi, of whom Takua had nicknamed "Avorahk," was heading towards the center of the island. Takua followed, but the Avorahk didn't seem to mind. The sky was a mixture of colors, including blue, red, and yellow. It seemed to be either dawn or dusk – it was usually so dark; Takua wasn't sure which it was.

The two of them passed a massive statue of the Avohkii, a carving that Takua and other Matoran had spent months on to carve. As they passed it, a slight breeze picked up. Suddenly, the Avorahk stopped in its tracks, raising one hand to signal Takua to be quiet. It listened. Takua listened, and he heard it too.

Drip... drip... drip...

What was that? Avorahk spun around, and gave a screech in horror. It pointed to the Avohkii statue. Takua turned, and his eyes widened in fear.

Standing on the statue was Takanuva... his staff, with a fresh coating of blood. The blood dripped from the staff down to the ground below.

Drip... drip... drip...

Yeah, this was something I had made a few months ago, to work with the BZPower Art Contest #14 - Through the Looking Glass. Since the BZPower Archive has been lost in a hacking incident, I've also attached in the description a reupload of the vignette I wrote to accompany the art piece.

The overall theme of the contest was to have a reverse in something with the story of BIONICLE, resulting in alternate timelime, alternate universe, etc. etc.

This piece shows what would've happened if Makuta had used the ol' Spear of Fusion on Takanuva, splitting him into Takua and Takanuva... the latter being a phyco maniac. The only ray of hope left would be a Rahkshi of Light (of whom Takua nicknamed "Avorahk"), but of course, Takanuva is not too far behind... This backstory was expanded on in the original BZPower topic, in a short-short story. The title is based on the blood dripping from Takanuva's staff.

There are a few things that could be worked on, but I'm personally thinking this is one of my better pieces of art.

Also (I probably sound like a noob right now), this is my first piece of artwork on deviantART, so if there's anything I'm doing wrong, please tell me.
